This book was great! It is about a little girl named Anna who is very shy and likes to hide. One day Anna feels that she is at high risk when her mom wants to send her to school and to see a physchologist. To overcome her risk Anna decides to build a secret world inside the walls of her house. When Anna is in the walls she watches her famly and her older sister, Andrea's parties.I think that this book was really interesting. It is a book for people who enjoy reading books that are different. I recommend this book if you don't like scary books, but you do like a little bit of mystery. It is the type of book you cannot put down once you start, you have to keep reading.

If you're a horror fan, you'll love this collection as much as I did. This book ranks right up next to Stephen King's stuff. It's dark, twisted, original, and each story is completely different than the one before it. The writing is tight and strong and pieces like "The Mason's Leach" and "The Strand" kept me thinking about them for days. The New England details add to the old ghost story appeal - although many of the stories are beyond "spooky" and into outright horror. A must read for any horror fan. Highly recommended.

Another Faust Review

Another Faust
Average Reviews:

ne night, in cities all across Europe, five children vanish - only to appear, years later, at an exclusive New York party with a strange and
elegant governess. Rumor and mystery follow the Faust teenagers to the city's most prestigious high school, where they soar to suspicious heights with the help of their benefactor's extraordinary "gifts."
But as the students claw their way up - reading minds, erasing scenes, stopping time, stealing power, seducing with artificial beauty - the side-effects of their own addictions. And as they make further deals with the devil, they uncover secrets more shocking than their most
unforgivable sins.
All though many people are familiar with the age old story of the man who traded his soul to the devil for a certain wish or talent, not everyone knows it as the "Faustian Bargain" or the Legend of the Faust. So, in case you are wondering about the title of the book...that is what it is based on. I wanted to point that out because quite a few teens that I polled had no idea what the word "Faust" was related to.
As you may have guessed by now this story is centered around five mysterious teens who are seemingly perfect, but weirdly...icky. Each of them have a perfect gift that any teen could relate to wanting, yet at the same time an awful quality that they must overcome. They live with their creepy governess Madame Villeroy who is no Mary Poppins (I'll just leave it at that).
Overall this is a very dark book with very few light-hearted moments and it will be obvious to any reader that each teen pays a heavy price for the gifts they so desire. There is also an ever-present feeling of loneliness through out the book because all though the five of them live together, their desire to be perfect has left them resentful, envious and mistrustful towards everyone, including each other. A few characters will surprise you and there are also some unexpected plot twists. The ending definitely leaves open the possibility for a sequel.
Great writing and chapters told from varying viewpoints (each of the five teens)keep the story well paced and interesting. Probably best for older teens or younger teens with a higher reading level due to the depth of the plot and the fact that the story bounces back and forth from present day to the past for each character.

A devilish debut by a brother-sister team invites us into the world of the elite Marlowe School, where some gifted students are having a hell of a year. One night, in cities all across Europe, five children vanish — only to appear, years later, at an exclusive New York party with a strange and elegant governess. Rumor and mystery follow the Faust teenagers to the city’s most prestigious high school, where they soar to suspicious heights with the help of their benefactor’s extraordinary "gifts." But as the students claw their way up — reading minds, erasing scenes, stopping time, stealing power, seducing with artificial beauty — they start to suffer the sideeffects of their own addictions. And as they make further deals with the devil, they uncover secrets more shocking than their most unforgivable sins. At once chilling and wickedly satirical, this contemporary reimagining of the Faustian bargain is a compelling tale of ambition, consequences, and ultimate redemption.

Our committee liked this book so well that we are giving it the Eleanor Cameron Award for Excellence in Children's Science Fiction.
It is very much like a younger version of Hitchhiker's Guide and should excite many readers.

A Summer of Silk Moths Review

A Summer of Silk Moths
Average Reviews:

A Summer of Silk Moths is an earthy, emotional story as delicate and complicated as moths themselves.Lightly based on the well known novel, Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter, Willey's retelling of the story was just as fresh and fascinating with a present-day appeal. The narrative storyline through Pete's eyes was very detailed and full of emotion. Willey first wrote A Summer of the Silk Moths with Nora as the narrator, but Nora's character was too rough, almost angry. Pete was observant and sensitive making the story come to life in the forest marshes of Michigan. You could even smell the damp forest or hear the moth's beating wings. I think what made this book cling to me long after the final page was the vibrant scenery and the hidden secrets that surrounded the heart of this novel. All the characters have such a strong emotional attachment to the overall development of the story, it was very easy to connect with Pete and Nora. Pete and Nora were both sensitive characters. They constantly fed off of each other's emotions making the story more complex as it went along. Willey compares life to moths--which were an important part of the story--because they are extremely intricate, misunderstood, and elusive. As the book digs even deeper and despite all the lies, anger, and hurt, both Nora and Pete have experienced, they must learn to forgive, love, and move on. I was almost heart broken to find that Pete and Nora's future was left unfinished; but I guess what? Willey is writing a sequel as I speak, and I can hardly wait to read it! Overall, A Summer of Silk Moths is an wondrously fresh, touching story of two teens drowning in a river of secrets. The moths will help them, but will they be able to survive the truth? I highly recommend this book to fans of Portor's ageless novel and those who like a good drama moths or no moths!
